Creative Art Competition
The Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) recently held its 2nd Annual Creative Art competition in its continued Public Awareness Campaign “How do my actions affect the environment?” The theme of this years Creative Art Competition was Coping with Water Scarcity. This theme is in line with the UN Water global thematic initiatives.
Participants in this year’s competition were asked to design portrayals (on kites of varying sizes) of different methods, which can be employed to conserve water in three areas – Domestic Usage, Agricultural Usage and Industrial Usage.
Entries were received in the 11 – 15; 19 – 25 year old and Open age Group categories. The portrayals reassured the judges of the untapped talent existing within the youth population and also indicated that many people were interested in learning about ways to conserve water. This was especially important since this year has proven to provide the greatest challenge for water supply.
Portrayals were judged based on Creativity, Visual Impact, Design, Relevance to Theme and Message.
The category winners in the 11 – 15 year old category were – Romario Reyes, Anya Reyes and Luke Silva respectively. In the 19 – 25 year old category the winners were Sherwin Bertrand, Akeia Francis and Shirley Ann Wellington. The winning group portrayal came from the Central Region of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
The CWWA takes this opportunity to congratulate all the participants for their interest in the competition and further recognise the category winners.
